The wildflower trio design has been inspired by the three flowers we most often see in bloom in our West Australian desert soils, thriving in the harsh conditions.
It blows me away but they seem to love disturbed soils and growing in very odd locations. A roadside windrow, a forgotten tractor tyre, a temporary shipping container and even that big old crack in the footpath.
The Mulla Mulla, Birdflower and Sturt Desert Pea. Or for the plant nerds out there, the Ptilotus exaltatus, Crotalaria cunninghamii and Swainsona formosa. All striking in their own way.
If you haven't witnessed these in the flesh, do yourself a favour and venture up the North West Coastal Hwy in the months of August through to October.
